“Potomac’s “Icebreaker” Jump Starts 2021 Season”

     Budds Creek, MD-  Last Saturday afternoon Potomac Speedway opened its 2021 race season on a brisk winter day. The track hosted a unique event called the “Icebreaker” featuring demolition derby style cars that ran on a creative road course within the confines of the speedway. The three classes on hand were the eight cylinder, six cylinder and four cylinder cars. Each class ran their own 20 lap feature with two special features on the card being the “Second place race” a “backwards race” and two “King of the round” events. Ten eight cylinder, 13 six cylinder and 24 four-cylinder’s all Took part in the event in a day where temperatures hovered in the low 40s at race time.
     Steve Sparks took the win in the 20 lap eight cylinder feature with Hunter Levin, Nabil Guffey, Stephen Suite and Joshua Barnes completing the top five.
     In the 20 lap six cylinder event it was David Moseley taking the checkered flag over Doug Wilson, Connor Mockler, Jonny Oliver and Dominic King.
    Phil Levering collected the win in the 20 lap Four cylinder main with Deuce Dean, Brad Green, Andrew Burke and Junior Cardwell trailing at the finish.
    Doug Wilson would capture wins in both the backwards race and the second place race with Kyle Randall and Dominic King each taking a king of the round event.
