“Latham Family Hits Century Career Win Mark”

Budds Creek MD, (4/5/24)- Cobbs Creek Virginia’s Billy Hubbard scored a convincing flag to flag win in last Friday nights season opening Crate Late Model event at Potomac Speedway. The win for Hubbard, steering his Rocket no.38, made him second consecutive opening day winner to score his career first track feature win.
The re-draw put Hubbard on the pole for the start of their 20-lap main and that was all he needed as he took the lead on the first lap, and would eventually pace all 20 circuits over eventual, runner-up Chuck Bowie. “We’ve been coming down here for 25 years and finally tonight was our night.” The happy winner stated post race. “Our car was flawless tonight and I can’t thank my sponsors and family enough for the win here tonight.” Ben Scott, Trevor Collins and Matt Ashworth completed the top five. Hubbard and Bowie took heat race victories.
Mikey Latham scored his second consecutive opening day win in the 15 lap hobby stock feature. Latham had to survive a late race caution but would prevail for his 27th career division feature win. The win would be a momentous occasion for the Latham family, as it would be the overall 100th career victory for he and his father Mike Latham. “Every win is special but this is a big one.” Mikey emphasized in victory Lane. “Every win feels like the first, and to share this moment with my father and family is an amazing accomplishment.” Mason Hanson took second wit Eric Hanson, Ralph Price and Bradley Shannon rounding out top five. Eric and Mason Hanson took heat wins.
Defending track champion Wyatt Hanson scored the win in the 15 Lap street stock feature. Jason Penn, PJ Hatcher, Mason Hanson and Matt Tarbox filled the front five. Wyatt and Mason Hanson were heat winners.
Faith Lacey drove to her second career Potomac feature win in the 15 lap U Car main. Joey Suite, Keith Brown, John Burch and Travis Dye would complete the top five. Heats went to Travis Dye and John Burch.
Nabil Guffey took top honors in the 15 lap strictly stock feature. Defending track champion Jayden Hatcher was second with Greg, Mattingly, Larry, Fuchs and Kelly Crouse rounding out the top five. Heats went to Jayden Hatcher and Kelly Crouse.
