Steele Nets $8,000 in American All Star Sweep at Potomac
Crate Racing took center stage this past weekend at Potomac Speedway with York, South Carolina’s Jeremy Steele coming away with a pair of impressive Crate Late Model wins in the inaugural appearance for the American All Star Crate Series, taking both main events Friday and Saturday, in the process, netting $8,000 for his winning performances. In Fridays 40 lapper, Steele shadowed defending series champion Tyler Arrington for the better part of the 40 lap affair, eventually taking the lead with 2 laps to go enroute to the opening night $3,000 payday. Davis Lipscombe rode home third, followed by Trevor Collins and Kyle Hardy.
On Night #2, Steele wasted little time, taking the top qualifying effort, as well as his heat race, and proceeded to lead all 50 laps from the pole, once again staving off Arrington for the $5,000 victory. “We initially intended to run an event in Alabama, stated Steele. When the event was rained out, I told my car owner I was going to Maryland. The track was a little muddy at first. But the surface really came in, allowing me to save my best for last” Arrington wound up with another runnerup finish, with Jeremy Pilkerton, Jack Brown, and Kyle Hardy completing the top 5.
In the 15 lap event for the Strictly Stocks, Nabil Guffey checked in for his second straight win, with Greg Mattingly, Daniel Kanoblde, Shawn Howsare, and Kelly Crouse completing the top 5. On Saturday, Mattingly won a late race battle with Guffey, taking his first win of the season, topping Guffey, Shawn Howsare, Kelly Crouse, and Daniel Kanodle.
Defending champ Wyatt Hanson survived the caution filled 20 lap Street Stock Feature on Saturday, checking in for his first win of the season. Hanson fended off Dylan Rutherford, Mason Hanson, Kyle Randall, and Billy Wroble.
In the 15 lapper for the Hobby Stocks, Justin Hatcher remained perfect, netting his third consecutive win on Saturday, with Trent Clemens, Connor Cheseldine, James Rainey Jr, and Richie Gibson completing the top 5.
In the first appearance for the Roadster division, Dominic King led a 7 car freight train to the stripe in taking his first win of the season, besting Justin Bottorff, Calvin Martin, Justin Boarman, and Cody Bottorff.
Keith Brown became the third different winner in as many races, taking the 15 lap U Car Feature, topping Adam Suda, Brody Guy, Nikolas Weber, and Travis Dye.
