Erwin Sweeps Potomac LLM Action 8-31-2025

By Buddy Long

Beaverdam, Virginia’s Russell Erwin pulled out the heavy lumber Sunday night, taking top qualifying action, his heat race, then the 30 lap Limited Late Model feature event at Potomac Speedway. Starting third, Irwin used a pair of high side maneuvers in overtaking both Sam Archer and Jeremy Pilkerton on the same lap to cruise to his first Limited Late Model win at Potomac this year, in the process becoming the 6th different winner in 2025. Following Erwins high side moves was Joey Love, who came home second, with Pilkerton, Archer, and Jonathan Raley completing the top five.

The second appearance by the Modified Mafia Tour found local product Ray Kable III of Sykesville, Maryland continuing the longtime Kable family winning tradition at Potomac, with the third generation driver fending off Michael Altobelli in taking the 30 lap thriller. Former NASCAR Truck Series competitor Austin Wayne Self came home third, followed by Joey Polevoy and Ryan Toole.

In the 15 lapper for the Street Stocks, Kyle Randall made it two in a row, taking the early lead from points leader Wyatt Hanson, then fending off furious challenges from Hanson to claim his second win of the season. Hanson chased Randall to the stripe with Mason Hanson, Dylan Alton, and Ricky Edmonds completing the top 5.

The 15 lapper for the SCDRA Roadster class became a war of attrition with Dominic King surviving to take his second win of the season. Stephen Suite came home second in the 18 car field, with John Hammett III, Brian Skelly, and Richard Martin completing the top 5.

Tony Catlett took the 15 lap nightcap for the Vintage full body stock cars, fending off polesitter Gerald Shannon, Dylan Alton, and JT Bowie.
